A Murder Mystery Game for Your Bridal Shower or Bachelorette
Looking for a bridal shower game that isn't another quiz? A wedding murder mystery gets the whole group solving together. How to run one, and a printable whodunit set at a wedding.

Most bridal shower games are the same handful: the purse game, the toilet-paper dress, "how well do you know the bride". They're fine for ten minutes. If you want something the group will actually talk about afterwards, try a murder mystery — with a wedding theme, of course.
Why a whodunit works at a shower
- It mixes the groups. The bride's school friends, work friends and future in-laws have to cooperate — the fastest icebreaker there is.
- Nobody performs. Unlike a party game with roles, a puzzle-style mystery doesn't put anyone on the spot.
- It fills a whole chunk of the afternoon with something more interesting than small talk.
- It's on theme without being about the couple's private life.
Our wedding mystery: Something Borrowed, Someone Dead
On the longest day of the year, 240 guests drove up the Hudson Valley to a restored dairy barn for a perfect wedding — planned, down to the minute, by a famously difficult wedding planner. At 9:05 pm the bride threw a shoe at her in front of everyone. At a quarter past ten the planner was found in the lake.
The bride is under arrest. Your group has to prove who really did it.

The heart of it is a picture puzzle: the lawn was soft, so every guest swapped their shoes at a shoe check, and an illustrator sketched every pair. Stilettos and block heels, glitter and lace, a little mud on some soles… The clues narrow 240 pairs down to the one belonging to the killer. Alongside it come four more puzzle types — a logic grid, a spot-the-difference cake table, a picture-reveal nonogram and a coded message.
- Play as one big team or in rival tables (first table to the answer wins)
- Exactly one answer, checked by computer, with checkpoints so nobody gets lost
- Printable at home — or play it on tablets

Something Borrowed, Someone Dead
A 2025 wedding with a body at the reception: five puzzle types, perfect for a bridal shower or a bachelorette night.
1–6 solvers
See it on EtsyHow to run it at the shower
- Split into tables of 3–5. Mix the friend groups on purpose.
- Read the bride's letter aloud — the bride herself, if she's a good sport. She is, after all, the prime suspect.
- Give each table a copy and a different-coloured pen.
- Set a timer (60–90 minutes) and put the cake within reach.
- First table to name the killer wins a small prize — the bouquet-toss trophy, a bottle of something, or simply the right to sit next to the bride at dinner.
For a bachelorette weekend
On a bachelorette trip, play it on the first evening while everyone settles in, with drinks and snacks — a much gentler start than a club. If your group prefers a full party game with characters and costumes, see our guide to hosting a murder mystery party.
Quick tips
- Print a spare copy — someone will spill something.
- Let the bride solve too. It's her party; don't make her the host.
- Take a photo of the winning table holding the solution. It ends up in the wedding album more often than you'd think.
